I hope it's a different type though. Because by the time the Europeans get their mag minipet the prices for the Grey Giant will probably have dropped from 100k + 3 ectos to 1k + 3 clay bricks.

In this auction the Grey Giant is sold for 100k+. On Ebay 100k GW gold is about 5$. Nuff said.

Because it's their game and they can use it and market it however they see fit.
People are banned when they exploit the anonymity of the internet to make profit off of a game they played no part in developing. Even if ANet started selling gold, it would be in no way hypocritical of all the sleazy companies that are doing it now. ANet is seeking profit, as a business should be. When they ban ebayers they're protecting their product and investments, as a business should be.
And all Guild Wars' people said:
It's a business.

Pshht.
I'll believe that this pet is worth more than 10gp when I see it in the trade value forums. That auction has one bid so far. Some guy putting his grey giant up on gwauctions and getting his buddy to bid 100k for it to make it look expensive shouldn't convince anyone that this minipet will be worth more than a whiptail devourer.
There will be THOUSANDS of these minis. Anyone can just go buy the magazine and get one. They're not going to be worth squat, and only a complete fool will pay a high price for one.
On that note, I'll gladly sell mine to any complete fool who would like to buy it for 100k.

You guys dont get out much do you? Magazines are almost always plastic wrapped when they include content that can be stolen (i.e Demo CD and in this case, a keycode) So no, it's NOT stupid. You're assuming the magazine publishers are too stupid to prevent people from stealing content from their magazines...
And yes, Im pretty sure it will only be one per account anyway.
And for those complaining that these wont be customized, you're getting worked up about such a minor "problem" To compare it to banning people for buying/selling gold on Ebay is laughable.

I would assume you can only get one per account. Adding two factions preorders doesn't give you two sets of poisenous dragon fangs for a single characters, adding a second Prophecies key wont give you another two character slots.

You'll likely have to type /bonusitems like you had to with mini kuunie and preorder weapons. When you log in after adding your Factions CE, a message pops up telling you to hit /bonusitems but most people miss it cause it's green and blends in with the guild announcement and then get pissed when they can't find their Kuunie . Probably the same deal for the grey giant.

I'm definately buying an issue and probably will keep it but y'all know the Kunavang will rise in price since there's a few faction CEs left and as more people join so will the price for the faction CE pet but that's another matter but somewhat related to this pet.

Only one of these allowed per account? Good. But I know people will still open the magazine bags to get the codes to sell in the game anyways. Hopefully Anet will crack down on that, as well as stores that sell the magazines.
If you really don't want to pay for the magazine, head to a local Barnes and Noble bookstore. I was there just now and it seems the store will open one bag to let customers read the magazine without buying or to see if they want it. You could try it like that and try the code. If it doesn't work, try another store(and probably rack up more gas cost and time than it's worth) or just buy the magazine which is what I'll do.
And yes I would think the Kuunavang minipet will rise in cost since it's in limited supply, even if the supply is great. It's not one that generates with character birthdays. And the Grey Giant minipet from PC Gaming will be limited too.

ACTUALLY the PC gamer DID have a code in it for a 15 day free trial with no packaging at the B&N so there ya have it and thus my concern

Sorry if this has been posted in this thread before but for those wanting to know what it looks like in game if you've downloaded the nightfall trailer and go to 2:16 the enemy that the paragon kills looks very like the grey giant.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. These 'mini pets' serve no real purpose in the game... they were birthday presents but don't display a player's experience since as they can be traded. It's just a pointless fad, in my opinion.

Well with the limit of content that Guild Wars has.. skins, mini pets, ect are important to a lot of people. If not important at least fun. People want to get the look they want.

I suppose you think Birthday Gifts are wrong too, right?
Because I can buy extra Character slots and get tons of pets to sell...
I argued this before with the CE Kuunivang mini-pet:
You don't need Gold in Guild Wars! The only thing you need Gold for is buying leet armor or weapons for LOOKS.
And guess what a pet is for? LOOKS.
Essentially, people choosing to sell their mini-pets are trading one cool looking item for other cool looking items. And there's nothing wrong with that.
